A Unique Classic – Crock Pot Bison Roast
I found some bison chuck roasts on clearance sale last week and snatched them up. I love cooking and eating Bison, but it’s usually more expensive than beef.
What is Bison Chuck Roast good for? Most of the same things as beef chuck roast. Bison chuck roast is a very lean cut of meat for beef, so it benefits from slow methods of cooking like smoking or slow cooking.
I customized my typical Pot Roast recipe for this Bison, this Bison Roast in the Crock Pot was a huge hit with the family.

What does buffalo taste like?
Buffalo takes a lot like beef. The meat is generally a bit leaner, meaning there’s less fat and is perhaps slightly tougher. In my opinion though we’re talking about shades of gray, and you could probably convince someone this recipe was made with beef.
The buffalo meat you buy in stores is raised in captivity, similar to beef. It’s not gamey at all, and all the cuts you buy are basically the same as beef. I think buffalo meat is just subtly different enough from beef in flavor, that is a fun way to change up a meal!
Can I Cook Bison Chuck Roast in an Instant pot?
Yes, if you prefer to use an electric pressure cooker you can make this pot roast faster. Prepare the bison and vegetables as per the recipe, but cook it in your instant pot or pressure cooker for 60 minutes on high pressure.
