Jiffy Mix Cornbread Dumplings: The easiest dumplings you’ll ever make

When it comes to cozy, comforting meals, Jiffy Mix Cornbread Dumplings deserve a special place on your dinner table. These golden, fluffy dumplings are easy to make and bring a touch of warmth to any meal. Simply combine the ingredients and spoon over your favorite stew or chili, bake for 20 minutes, and you have a complete, hearty meal.

Different ways to top your stew

One of my favorite things about these cornbread dumplings is that there are a lot of options to make them exactly what you want. My standard method is to pour my stew into a 9×13 pan and spoon 6 even dumplings over top. I use this as a guide for serving. But there are a couple of other methods you should consider

  • Spread the dumplings for an almost cake-like topping. To do this, spoon the mix into the center of your stew and use the spoon or a spatula to smooth it out over the stew. Bake as directed in the recipe and you’ll have a delicious, cornbread covered stew to serve.
  • Do you prefer a lot of little dumplings in your stew? Simply spoon small bits of the mix over the stew, leaving space between the dumplings. Bake as directed and you’ll have all the dumplings you want.

Alternatives to baking

Personally, I prefer my cornbread dumplings baked until their edges are slightly crispy. However another common way to make dumplings is to cook them into the stew while it’s still in the pot. If this is your preferred way of cooking dumplings, you’re in luck, because this recipe can easily be adapted.

To cook these dumplings into your stew without baking, spoon the dumpling mix into the stew while it is still cooking in the pot. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 5-15 minutes, or until the dumplings are tender and cooked through.

Note that this cooking method will result in a less crispy top to the dumplings, but the flavor will be the same.
